Studio: More Plinth Painting

Painting the new sides:

Going back over once half dry and re coating layers of acrylic for more texture:

Reflections

  • I chose to just use black acrylic and the heavy structure gel for the other sides as it became clearer that I didn't care for the use of colour on this piece. This process was entirely about the texture that I was creating through the use of paint, and the colour either took away from that connection with textural detail, or limited it. It just doesn't make complete sense for there to be colour in this piece anymore.
  • The thick black acrylic dripped down the sides of the previously painted parts and I decided to leave it and let the paint do its thing.
  • Further development for this piece will mean spray painting the plinth white and adding the silver leaf detail, these details will bring the piece together and link it in with my other pieces in the exhibition.
