Exhibition Display Session

Good & bad examples/information of exhibition supporting/display material: labels, catalogues, leaflets, websites, other.

Qs to ask: is it too much information, or too little? Too descriptive, not giving enough? Too didactic, more informal? It doesn't matter which exhibition or venue the samples are from, but consider how they alter/inform/transform the visiting experience of viewing the artworks.

Todays Session:

An overview of an idea/aim for a piece in the show would be:

1. Medium - Sculpture/painting/video/performance/installation/etc
  •  In my case this is a sculpture with an installation.

2. Physicality - Size/material/series/individual piece/sound/projection/effect on other works/etc
  • For me this is going to be a small scale installation with a small sculpture.
3. Location - Ma suite/project space plus/roof terrace/ BA suite/corridor/where is it you envisaged it being shown?

  • Project Space Plus

Following this the discussion covered thoughts on:
  • Brochures - crafty/professional/paperback/hardback/paper type/images/etc
  • Commonality of work - for the title or brief.
  • Theme - colour scheme/plinth design/signage/information/etc
